As part of welcoming new comer to our church, the difficult part is to know who are the new comer without being intrusive.

While welcoming newcomer yesterday at the car park, it got me thinking, what if I can scan the plate number of cars coming in and identify this is the first time the car ever drive into our church on a Sunday.

If it is the first time, my watch will show/send me this notification:

The camera will send plate number (ideally hash of plate number - privacy concern) to the backend.

The backend then check that the plate number can be found in database.

If yes, do nothing.

If no, send notification to watch (or any mobile device). At the same time, record it (just set a flag - do not save the “count” - privacy concern).

With this, I or any member of welcoming team can pro-actively approach an incoming car and if it is new (either a real new comer or not) it will notify you.
